What's up everyone? Today marks the completion of my Whole 30 challenge!
What is whole30?
Basically a challenge where you eliminate all processed foods. In other words: Eat real food.
Eat meat, seafood, and eggs; vegetables and fruit; natural fats; and herbs, spices, and seasonings. Eat foods with a simple or recognizable list of ingredients, or no ingredients at all because they’re whole and unprocessed. No grains, dairy, alcohol, legumes, added sugars or sweeteners, or anything artificial.
This challenge got very difficult, especially because my fiance and I were mid-challenge while on a 4 day cross country road trip, but we made it work! I am very happy with the results, but due to the lack of carbs that my body was used to consuming my physical activity level decreased. My energy level was lower than usual, but overall I never experienced any bloating or stomach issues which is a win in itself!
What's next? While I do not see myself continuing with this paleo diet lifestyle, I will limit the amount of complex carbs I consume, and try to get the majority of my macronutrients from REAL whole foods.
I believe the whole 30 is a great way to get creative with healthy eating. You are forced to eat more veggies, fruits, and look for healthy alternatives when your body starts to crave sweets, or fatty foods. It can also serve as physical reset/detox. I began this challenge because I started indulging way too often in fast food, sweets, and alcohol and needed something to hold me accountable.
Below you will see my before & afters, and the first meal I had after I completed the challenge! Reset starts Monday, I will keep you all posted!
Have an awesome weekend.
